As the sun approaches the horizon after a superb early spring day shed pioneer 66001 passes through Elford at the head of 6E55 Theale - Lindsey on the 14th of March 2011, the public footpath sign on the right is a bit misleading as once you have walked across the field and reached the railway line you can go no further!

A nice added extra on the 27th of April 2011 at Abington was 66008 working 6L30 Mossend - Carlisle made up of an assortment of 4 wheeled spoil / ballast wagons, the road at the bottom right of the picture is the road you use to access the location from the north and is very seldom used other than by the friendly farmer
66008 rolls through Melton Ross on the 29th of June 2010 at the head of 6H15 Immingham - Drax, its load of imported coal is destined for one of the largest power stations in the United Kingdom, which in years gone by would have received coal in the main from neighbouring Yorkshire mines but now comes from as far away as Australia

66031 leads 4D12 Didcot Power Station - Avonmouth on the 29th of September 2011 through Shrivenham, the consist is made up the rather charm free rake of the rather boring EWS liveried HTA hoppers, apart from that is the 3rd hopper that is which has had a makeover during recent times in some sidings somewhere!
66031 powers through Compton Beachamp on the 29th of September 2011 with 6D11 Avonmouth - Didcot Power Station, the uniform level of coal in the HTA's is created as the train creeps under the loading silo at Avonmouth as opposed to the look of some coal workings which are loaded using diggers that create a uneven look to the load
After getting done by a floater at Barrow On Trent an hour earlier a move was needed to nail this loco on this working, and thankfully it paid off! 66046 rolls out of Pilning loop with 6B86 Avonmouth - Aberthaw on the 9th of August 2011, the train hadn't yet reached my preferred position for the shot but a small floater had just clipped the sun and was affecting the light where i was stood and indeed the area just in front of what is visible in this shot

66192 eases the up the incline towards Pilning station with 4C70 Aberthaw - Portbury on the 16th of November 2010
Passing the site of the former Pill station 66193 is seen just after departing Portbury Coal Terminal with 6B86 to Aberthaw on the 28th of August 2010, not long after this photo was taken 66193 was declared a failure on Filton Bank and caused chaos for a good couple of hours!
Offering a bit of variety but maybe not better quality to the scene was DB Schenker trialing pairs of 66's on some oil turns, seen passing Pilning on the 24th of June 2010 are 66194 + 66187 at the head of 6B33 Theale - Robeston
66199 passes just to the South of Lydney with 6V07 Round Oak - Margam on the 22nd of July 2011, a sunny break of around 3 minutes occured at exactly the right time as some jet black clouds rolled in from the North, the outcome couldn't of been any more striking!
66199 trundles through Catholme with 4Z32 Ratcliffe - Margam on the 14th of July 2011, while to the north the sky remained grey and cloudy for the entire evening this location was blessed with some lovely light to make the day worth while
66199 heads the regular 6B35 Hayes - Moreton On Lugg through Ram Hill on the 23rd of March 2011 with its usual rake of hoppers for this diagram
With Melton Ross Quarry firing up nicely 66204 passes on the main with 6H34 Immingham - Drax on the 12th of April 2011
Taken from a very low angle (lying down!) 66204 eases its rake of empty HTA's through Barnetby while working 4R34 Drax - Immingham on the 12th of April 2011
A once familliar sight through the Bristol area was the MOD stores from Didcot, but due to a reshuffle of services by DB Schenker this traffic now gets conveyed overnight as far as Newport ADJ then conveyed forward as 6B24 Newport ADJ - Cardiff Wentloog, on the 10th of November 2010 a filthy 66204 does the honours seen passing Coedkernew
66204 is seen on the 1st of March 2010 with 6V07 Round Oak - Margam as it heads along the relief at Severn Tunnel Junction, the construction of a palisade fence and signal certainly haven't helped the shot from here, of note now is that the buddleia has taken over and now probably covers the bogies and half of the loco's bodyside, rubbish!
66207 provides the power for a very rare southbound afternoon working of the clay seen passing Brent Knoll on the 19th of January 2011 in the shape of 6V99 Worcester Yard - Tavistock Junction
66213 departs Pilning loop on the 9th of August 2011 with 6Z42 Westbury - Cardiff Docks, with a consist made up of mainly different shaped ex RMC rust buckets its certainly more colourful than a rake of boring boxes!
With its huge rake of 31 empty HTA's 66221 passes through Gatcombe at high tide with 4E66 Margam - Redcar on the 6th of April 2011
Making a change from the usual booked 'Tug' 66230 takes charge of the currently less frequent 6E41 Westerleigh - Lindsey on the 11th of June 2011 as it passes through Cam and Dursley, with not a single EWS TEA in the rake its quite an unusual look, with the cloud building in from the west it was very handy that this made use of its earlier Saturday path
Another lightweight 6E20 Margam - Immingham passes New Barnetby on the 13th of April 2011 behind 66230
In the high summer sun of the 16th of August 2010 66237 slowly navigates its way through the village of Pill with 6B86 Portbury - Aberthaw, with this service due to leave Portbury at 13:00 and a pretty good time keeper its always reassuring to hear the loco sound its horn on departure from the dock gates and it is then a matter of five minutes before it comes slowly into view, after passing the village the train will then skirt the River Avon for a few miles before passing under Brunel's iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge before eventually joing the main line at Parson Street
66238 crosses over the point work at Filton Abbey Wood whilst heading 6C41 Newport ADJ - Westbury engineers on the 27th of October 2010
With the shadows racing across the hillside of Purton it was with great relief that 6V69 Bescot - Newport ADJ empty china clay was running a bit early, seen powering out of the trees on the 31st of May 2011 66250 makes a fine sight as it skirts a near full River Severn, this shot made the Severn Bridge toll well worth it!
